Dhamakapella is Case Western Reserve University’s premier, competitive South Asian fusion a cappella team. Established in 2005, the team derives its influences from Indian classical, contemporary Bollywood, and Western musical genres. Dhamakapella strives to create a single, cohesive sound through fusion arrangements, performs on campus and across the country, and enjoys releasing music each year, including their latest albums, ‘Ishaara’ and ‘The 2022 Anthology’, on platforms such as Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
Naya Zamaana is UCLA's Premier South Asian a cappella team, created in 2006 to celebrate the diversity of talent among South Asian youth in America. Their singers come from a variety of diverse musical backgrounds, ranging from South Asian styles like Carnatic and Hindustani to Western styles like opera and R&B. In hopes of creating a distinct fusion of these styles, Naya Zamaana’s arrangements strive for unique and unconventional sounds that explore the diversity of the South Asian diaspora.
Hum A Cappella is UT Austin’s premier competitive South Asian fusion a cappella group. From its six-member inception in 2001, Hum has evolved into a group of dynamic vocalists who arrange all of their songs in-house. They work to combine different styles of Western and South Asian music in award-winning arrangements as they compete nationwide. The ‘hum-ily’ comes from various musical backgrounds and their excellence for a cappella music keeps them moving forward. Hum is currently working on their 5th studio album, to be released on all music streaming platforms soon!
